They think iOS 18 is a POS.
Apple’s much-anticipated iOS 18 has received eucalypt app reviews online since its debut on Monday. Many techies have criticized the so-called “biggest improvement in history” for making it easier for bad partners to cheat and also for having an unusable photo function that made them “want to jump up”, among other traps.
“iOS18 is a downgrade,” concluded one disappointed user on X.
When Apple CEO Tim Cook unveiled the iPhone 16 operating system last week, iPhone fans were wowed by the latest features, especially AI-generating capabilities called Apple Intelligence that allowed for a smarter Siri, personalized emoji and more a lot.
However, many questioned the new feature that allows users to lock and hide apps on their home screen. While the feature was designed to protect sensitive information, critics feared it would allow unfaithful significant others to commit adultery, with one critic X declaring, “The iOS 18 update was probably created by a fraudster” .
“IOS 18 and the new iPhones will make these birds cheat like a mf… that’s crazy. Relationships are dead,” said another.
“IOS 18 trying to convert the brave android men who cheat on the iPhone,” joked a third.
Equally reviled was the new Photos app, which one user labeled “one of the worst designs Apple has ever released.”
Many didn’t take kindly to the simplistic “single view” with a large photo grid and a “collections” menu that allows users to peruse their collection of photos by topic.
“The change to the Photos app in iOS 18 makes me generally want to be,” wrote another. “Getting rid of scrubbing on fullscreen videos, not previewing photos and videos in fullscreen off the bat, an ugly page for everything that means you have to keep scrolling…it’s just BAD.”
A third said: “The new Photos app in iOS 18 is clunky and weird. i hate it. It just feels unnecessarily complicated and you have to navigate so much to do simple things.”
Many critics also hated the much talked about control center feature that allows users to customize and resize home page app icons and buttons.
While it was ostensibly designed to give the user more creative freedom, many iPhone fans found it too complicated.
“Whoever designed the iOS 18 control center should be fired, it’s not user friendly at all,” declared one.
Incidentally, Apple shares fell nearly 3% on Monday after some analysts claimed that delivery times for the new iPhone 16 Pro models showed weaker-than-expected demand.
Some techies attributed the lack of hype to the delayed rollout of key AI features.
“The main selling point, Apple Intelligence, is not available at launch alongside the release of the iPhone 16,” said Ming-Chi Kuo, an Apple analyst at TF International Securities, in a blog post.
